The Inspector General of Police Adamu has ordered the 17 zonal command under the various Assistant Inspector General of Police to enforce the executive order to regulate the spread of the pandemic.
All the various state commissioner are to make sure the health regulatory protection act of 2021 signed into law by the president are to have full compliance, the inspector general of police admonished his men and officers to be professional in carrying out the enforcement.
The IGP gave the order following the directive given by the president as contained in the regulation which mandate the police and other security agencies to enforce of the law.
While noting that the uncertainty and risks engendered by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic have placed additional responsibilities on the general public, Adamu called on the citizens to voluntarily comply with the provisions of the regulations for the safety of all
“The IGP further cautions officers enforcing the regulations to show tact, compassion, and empathy with the citizens.
“He reiterates that the officers must be firm and professional and at the same time remain polite, civil and respect the fundamental rights of the citizens,” the statement read.
