The insurgents were eliminated by troops from the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) on Wednesday. This information was shared in a statement by Ibrahim Yahaya, the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force. Yahaya, who is a Captain, mentioned that the troops recovered weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication devices from the terrorists. The successful operation was part of recent clearance operations led by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army.
Yahaya further explained that on January 3, 2024, the combined troops of OPHD conducted an offensive operation in Batsari and Safana LGAs of Katsina state, targeting identified terrorist hideouts. During this operation, 10 terrorists were neutralized, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The troops also seized various weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, Dane guns, locally fabricated guns, communication gadgets, mobile phones, and military uniforms. Additionally, four motorcycles were recovered.
Furthermore, Yahaya mentioned that a search and rescue operation in Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State resulted in the rescue of nine kidnapped victims, including five women and four babies. The terrorists abandoned the victims and fled after a confrontation with the resilient troops. The rescued individuals were promptly reunited with their families in Magami.
Yahaya quoted Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji, as commending the troops for their efforts and urging them to maintain their high level of performance.
