The police had issued an erroneous statement on Tuesday confirming the arrest of Barr Ari by the Police Election Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Team in Abuja. However, a source close to the REC has revealed that he was driven to the Force Headquarters by a Senator to honour an INTERPOL invitation.
On April 27, the INTERPOL had requested that the Adamawa REC report to its National Central Bureau (NCB) office at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja for an interview with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, INTERPOL, on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:00 am. The source disclosed that Barr Ari voluntarily reported to the police and was not arrested. He had been invited for interrogation on May 5th, but he voluntarily went on May 2nd, accompanied by a Senator.
