The federal constituency in Niger state, North central Nigeria, where a rerun election was conducted to fill in a vacant position was won by All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The Magama/rijau federal Constituency rerun elections was held on Saturday, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defeated the people democratic party and ADC.
The result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Where the APGA’s candidate Salihu salleh polled a total of 22,965 vote to beat his closet opponent, Emmauel Alamu Endoza of the people democratic party PDP who polled 22,507 votes and the ADC candidate Halilu Yussuf who scored 316 votes.
The court had in earlier judgment disqualified the All Progressives Congress (APC) from participate in the election.
Report has it that there were some violence in some polling units, the polling units are, Ibeto and Rijau towns, in a general note, the other polling units was generally peaceful
Mr. Festus Okoye, who is National Commissioner in Charge of Voters Education, and other three INEC Commissioners monitored the election.
Some people we spoke with, said this is a welcome development, it got to show that voting and political culture is growing in Nigeria.
