The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has vowed that bandits who disguise as herders to perpetrate violence, kidnapping and robbery in the state will be treated as criminals.
The Governor made this known to the general public during his fact finding mission to one of the warring community where herders and farmer clashed recently. He told the Odighi community in Uhiere Ward of Ovia=North East Local Government Area of Edo state, that the his administration will not condole any act of criminality under which ever forms.
“We must separate the issues of security and politics and never accept the issue of criminality,” the governor said.
“We have always lived with herders and those we know, act responsibly. The ones we see today are different and act otherwise. These ones that cause violence, kidnapping, robbery are criminals and must be treated as such.”
He gave the assurance that his government will have a synergy with various security agencies and the lacal vigilante group to clear the criminal element from the area. He heap praises on the inhabitants of the community for their peaceful conduct and for organizing themselves to secure the community.
He had earlier visited the Udo community in Ovia South West Local Government Area, were he melt with the people and the duke of the community, the Iyase of Udo.
He assured the Udo people of his commitment to secure the community of herders who are out to inflict hardship on the people, with their criminal minded acts.
