Governor Bello of Kogi state, said he will never take the COVID-19 vaccine that he is hale and hearty.
He made his position known in an interview on channels TV, on Friday when he fixture on Today’s Politics. He said president Buhari could take the vaccine as the leader of the country, but he Bello would not.
“Mr. President is the leader of the country, I respect him so high, all of us respect him so much, we love him and he is leading by example. If he needs to take the vaccine and he takes it, it is a welcome development”
“As far as I am concerned, I as a person, I don’t need to take the vaccine. There is nothing wrong with me, I am hale and hearty. I am 100 per cent healthy. I won’t take the vaccine.”
The governor said Kogi state has more pertinent issues to attend to that COVID-19 is not the issue of the people of the state, the state has problems to solve, and COVID-19 is certainly not one of them.
He said his administration met insecurity in the state, and his government is doing everything possible to tackle it.
“Disunity, we met on ground and we have united Kogi state today not COVID-19. COVID-19 is just a minute of aspect of what we are treating or handling in Kogi state, there have been outbreak of Lassa Fever and Yellow Fever and those were handle without making noise about it”
“The last yellow fever outbreak, we vaccinated our people against, I we encouraged them, we educated them and they felt the impact”
He went further to say that if the federal government is kind enough to give them COVID-19 vaccine, he said he will not force anybody in the state to take it, whoever wished to come out and take the vaccine could come out and take it.
“But am not going to subject the people of Kogi state to vaccines or vaccination and I will not make them the guinea pigs”
Recall that the governor has opposed the coronal virus when it was first discovered in Nigeria, he has never believed in the existence of the virus from the onset.
