The National Sport Festival Edo 2020 was postponed as a result of the ravaging pandemic that is ranking havoc in the world, however, the Local Organizing Committee has come out to give clear estimate of what they stands to make from athletes registration,
The organizers are expected to make about N160m naira from athlete’s registration allow. Their projections are about 11,000 athletes who are expected to participate in all events.
The festival that was postponed as a result of the Covid-19, tagged ‘EDO 2020’ is finally set to hold from 14th of February to 28th of February 2021,
The states that are highly favored to rank home huge medals are Edo, Delta, Lagos and Rivers in the festival and they are also expected to participate in the event with large contingents.
In a letter addressed to the director of sport of the 36 states sport councils and the federal capital territory, the Local organizing committee said the state are expected to pay N15,000 for registration of each athlete that are going to take part in the event
In addition, States are also expected to provide insurance cover for their athletes and officials.
“I am directed to remind you that the date of February 14 – 28, 2021 still stands and in accordance with Rule 15 of the General Rules and Regulations (2020) guiding the organisation of the Festival, each participant (athlete or official) is expected to pay a Participation Fee of N15,000 only.
“Consequent upon the above, I am to further inform you that the participating states are expected to make payment of their participation fees from February 10-12, 2021.
