Accuses ex-gov of auctioning party victory in 2022 guber poll
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ekiti State chapter is set to suspend the former Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose and some of his political associates for alleged anti-party activities.
The party also accused Fayose and the candidate of the party in the 2022 governorship election, Mr. Bisi Kolawole, of auctioning the chances of the party to win the election, saying that their utterances and actions have given credence to the claim.
The Publicity Secretary, Caretaker Transition Committee, Ekiti State PDP, Amerijoye Olalekan, stated this while briefing newsmen, yesterday, in Ado Ekiti.
The party also chided the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the sharing of palliatives over the removal of fuel subsidy, describing the exercise as mockery of the poor people.
He said: “The former governor Ayodele Fayose endorsed the incumbent governor, who is a member of the opposition party for second term. PDP has taken a stand and we have communicated to Abuja and we are expecting a response. Bisi Kolawole visited the governor and praised him, saying he has done well.
“Section 58 of our constitution is very clear about the membership of the party. If you claim to be a member of the party and you are flouting the rules of the party, working against the party endorsing the incumbent governor against the wish of the party, you can draw your inference.
“The question now is why the PDP has not been able to sanction them. Let me tell you that the stakeholders met some time ago, there were minutes of the meeting, where we generated the resolutions and in the resolution, it was recommended that certain individuals should be suspended. I must say this with clarity that the resolution did not mean a unanimous decision. But you have a situation where the majority supported that position.”
He said the decision of the majority at the meeting was that whoever flouted the rules of the party should be suspended.
