The rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who played host to the Emir of Kono on Friday in government house in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Wike used the opportunity to question the sincerity of the federal government.
He said insecurity will continue to be a great concern in the country if the president continues to appointment or posting of officers and men of security agency across the country based on patronage and not merit or competence.
In the midst of rising ethnic tension and insecurity the emir of kano, Aminu Ado Bayero is on a mission to kindly the embers of peace, unity and tolerance. The emir said God has brought together the deferent ethnic group that makes up Nigeria, our coming together is for a purpose, he said for that togetherness is to build a strong and united Nigeria.
The governor commended the emir for his visit, and he used the opportunity to call for the unity of the country, he said every Nigerians has a role to play in building a united and peaceful country. He further said that the country has never been this divided, he said the division is along ethnic and religious lines, and it is a great danger to the unity of this country.
The emir used the occasion of his visit to invite Governor wike, to attend and watch and also participate in the durbar and general celebration to mark the Eidel celebration coming up in May.
The governor accepted the invitation, and promised the emir that he will participate in the durbar celebration. The governor also used the occasion to advice the federal government to put the interest of the country above patronage and favoritism.
Governor Wike also noted that political class are the cause of the problem facing the county. And he call on all politicians to come together for the sake of united Nigeria.
