Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of Imo State, has withdrawn from the 2023 governorship election.
This comes after he had been cleared to take part in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state governorship primary election, which is set to take place on April 15.
In a letter dated March 27 and addressed to the party’s national chairman, Ihedioha announced the news.
In an effort to maintain party cohesion, the former governor stated that he was withdrawing from the campaign.
Ihedioha’s media assistant, Chibuike Onyeukwu, verified the news to the Nigeria Tribune on Tuesday in Owerri.
