The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi says the routine breakdown of trains along the Abuja Kaduna railway will be addressed as soon as spare parts ordered for their maintenance arrive in the country.
Amaechi gave this assurance in Lagos during monitoring of works on train stations along the Lagos Ibadan railway.
The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, in the company of officials of the ministry, returned to the Abuja Kaduna railway a month since the commissioning of its commercial operations. This time, to assess the level of work, done on some stations, yet to be completed. On inquiry over the routine failure of trains on the Abuja Kaduna axis, he ascribes it to the absence of suitable spare parts.
Meanwhile, some Lagos-bound passengers in Ibadan say enlightenment of Nigerians of their responsibilities in protecting national assets is a necessity.
While routine monitoring of the works continues, the minister and his team believe it will be sustained while maintenance of rail infrastructure across Nigeria cannot be compromised.
