According to Mallam Garba Shehu, a former presidential spokesperson, Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari never asked Asiwaju Bola Tinubu not to look into those officials who were in office during his eight-year term.
In a statement released on Thursday, Shehu referred to social media rumors that such requests were made by the former president Buhari during a recent meeting between him and President Tinubu as fake news and nothing more recent.
No other person was present for the meeting between the two, and no official record of their conversations exists, the former presidential aide emphasized.
In addition, he said that after receiving visitors to his rural home in Daura, Katsina state, his former principal, Buhari, decided to leave Nigeria for the United Kingdom.
Shehu added that the former president wanted President Tinubu to be able to fulfill his election-related promises to Nigerians in an environment that was supportive of his efforts.

The former President wants to avoid the media as much as possible so as not to derail the new administration.
He made the decision to return to his house in Daura in the hope of finding the kind of peace and quiet he desired for himself, but after realizing that this was not the case—visitors were pouring in morning, noon, and night—he moved to a more remote location.
He continues to wish that he be given the opportunity to get the rest he needs and that the Tinubu administration has the proper environment in which to work toward keeping the promises they made.
