Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated the Benin Monarch, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II on the celebration of the Igue Festival.
In a statement, Obaseki said “On behalf of the Government of Edo State, I felicitate with the Omo N’ Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, all Edo people and our friends within and outside the state on the annual Igue Festival celebration.
The Governor used the occasion to offer prayers for the New Year to bring in more blessings, prosperity and development.
He retaliated, that the State Government will continue to promote programmes, polices and reforms to engender progress in the state.
Obaseki wished the Benin Monarch a glorious celebration, excellent health and the divine wisdom to continue to lead Edo people to greatness.
Igue festival is an annual ceremony, that the Edo people, in south, south Nigeria is celebrated annually to usher in the new years, as it stands now, the Edo people years has began, with the celebration of the Igue festival.
The governor also admonished the leadership style of the monarch, and prayed that his reign will experience progress and tranquilities.
