Nigeria creative industry have done more for national awareness than any ambassador – Ali Baba

Veteran comedian Ali Baba, whose real name is Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, has pointed out the significant impact that Nigerian musicians have had on raising awareness about the country. He believes that these talented individuals have done more to improve Nigeria’s image than any official ambassador.

In a recent interview with Channels Television, Ali Baba expressed his disappointment that the government does not recognize the substantial contributions of the entertainment industry to the nation’s growth in its economic plans. He mentioned that a recent 200-page report by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, which predicted the country’s economic future, failed to acknowledge the value of the entertainment and creative industry.

Ali Baba emphasized that the influence of the creative industry goes beyond Nigeria’s borders, using Burna Boy as an example. He highlighted how the Grammy-winning artist has showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to a global audience, putting the country on the map.

He criticized the Nigerian Economic Summit Group for not considering the entertainment and creative industry in their economic forecasts, stating that the value of this industry in Nigeria extends far beyond the country’s borders. Ali Baba believes that Nigerian artists like Burna Boy are doing more to raise national awareness than any ambassador sent to other countries like America or the UK.
