Religious Leader and 27 Other “Yahoo-Yahoo Boys” Arrested for Internet Fraud

At Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 28 people, including a clergyman who is thought to be one of the “Yahoo-Yahoo boys.”

Following information on the activities of fraudsters operating in the region, EFCC Ilorin Zonal Command agents made the arrest at Mandate Area in Ilorin.

A preliminary inquiry, according to the anti-graft agency, identified a clergyman, twin brothers, six students from different higher universities, mining owners, and a large number of other specialized private individuals as suspects.

According to a news release from EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwuajaren, those detained included preacher Toheeb Albarka, twin brothers Lambe Kehinde and Lambe Taye, Francis Stephen, Olabode Yusuf, and Musbaudeen Akorede, all of whom are involved in the dog-selling business.

Six other undergraduate students from various tertiary institutions in the state, including Moshood Okunola, Kayode Aderemi, Ayobami Olorunfemi, Paul Ayomide, Agboola Marvellous, and Adebisi Olatunde, were also detained, according to the statement.

The statement listed additional suspects as Ogundiran Nathaniel, a tiler, Jamiu Ishola, a printer, Dauda Tunde, a plumber, Abdullahi Sikiru, a Bet Naija agent, Kasali Afeez Adegoke, a website developer, Jordan Adeyinka, a wears/shoe dealer, and Ojeniyi Boluwatife, a driver.

Adedamola Samson, Olarewaju Adisa Taofeek, Adewale Oloro, and Omogbolahan Ibrahim made up the remaining group.

With the defendants’ arrest, police found 10 exotic cars, numerous brands of laptops and cell phones, a printer, and other items.
