Reps To Resume Plenary On Tuesday After Over 8-Week Recess

The House of Representatives will end its yearly break and resume on September 26, 2023, according to a letter sent to members by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria.

The break began after a plenary session on July 27, 2023, where Speaker Tajudeen Abbas named the heads of the House’s standing committees.

During the break, the House has remained active with various ad hoc committees carrying out important tasks and members conducting constituency outreaches. Upon resumption, the House will focus on finalizing the work of the ad hoc committees and considering their reports, as well as adopting the Legislative Agenda developed by the ad hoc committee led by House Leader, Prof Julius Ihonvbere.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the membership of the standing committees will be announced and fully constituted soon after resumption. In addition, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas congratulated the newly elected leaders of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria.
