In a bid to get raid of the banditry in the North West, the presidency on Tuesday declared a no-fly zone and banned all mining activities in Zamfara state.
This announcement was made by the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd). He said it was party of the measure taken by the federal government to bring to an end the security challenges in the north western states.
The national security adviser made this known to the general public after several hours national Security Council meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, the meeting was presided over by the president, President Buhari.
He said. During the no-fly zone certain aircraft are not permitted to fly in the area. He also said that all non-state actors has been placed under close surveillance.
He said the federal government will not hesitate to use what he called “kinetic” means to restore normalcy in the country. He further said that all the security agencies have been put on alert and charged not to allow the country to slide into state of anarchy.
The national security adviser, said, the president has given a matching order to the newly appointed services chiefs to reclaim all area under the control of bandits, insurgency and kidnappers.
