The president-election elect’s results announced on Saturday by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu have been compared by Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the pan-Yoruba sociocultural group Afenifere, to a daylight robbery.
Recalls that INEC declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the standard bearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election after he received 8,794,726 million votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who finished second and third, respectively.
With his sixth attempt, Atiku received 6,984,520 votes, while Obi received 6,101,533.
In an interview with Arise TV on Friday, Pa Adebanjo responded to Tinubu’s pronouncement as the president-elect by calling it a hollow victory.

The senior statesman who backed Obi claimed that Tinubu’s pronouncement as the winner was simply temporary.
“As of that election, there was no outcome,” Adebanjo continued. The treatment of Tinubu is comparable to that of the Shonekan Temporary Government. It was a win that was only temporary. We will demonstrate it in court, Labour Party leader and presidential candidate Peter Obi declared. I listened as Dino Melaye instructed the INEC chairman to postpone the results due to many anomalies. Why don’t you allow us to correct them first, he asked? He yelled, “No!” But, the chairman of INEC stated, “Let me finish this exercise and I will review. This is an open-air robbery. The entire nation backed you (INEC Chairman) in your efforts to alter the election law and kept your commitment to announce the results via electoral channels. You’ve since returned to the issue we’ve been fighting. What a loss! This administration is a failure.
